Episode 10: Hooves and Harlots

First and foremost, I LOVE the title of this episode. Also, I love Amazons, of which there are a lot coming up. Gabrielle starts getting hit on by the Amazon leader. She thinks Renee O'Connor is as adorable as I do, obviously. She keeps giggling at everything Gabby does. Xena is unamused.

Hey! Look! AMAZING centaur graphics! Oh, no. Wait a second. They are just so BAD it's amazing.

Apparently the centaurs and Amazons are at war or something. Whatever, Gabrielle is getting changed into an Amazon princess outfit. Let's take a moment to appreciate that, shall we?

Ahem! Moving on... Gabrielle is being taught how to use a fighting staff, which we all know becomes her main weapon for most of the series. At least until she becomes Bad Ass Gabby with sai's. She is being taught this by Ephiny who becomes a recurring character, mainly because she is awesome.

So, half the reason the Amazons are amazing is because they dance ALL THE TIME and they are half clothed in sexy leather. I'm just saying. They pull Gabby into the dancing circle, to her hilarious protests.

"I'm really, really bad at this. No! No, no, no, I have two left feet! They wouldn't let me dance at the Harvest Festival because I brought a bad harvest!"

However, she totally gets into it, even though she REALLY can't dance. The point is she's having fun though, right?

Xena stops the war between the Amazons and Centaurs with some of her clever canoodling and fighting skills. Yay! Now they can all be friends!

Xena and Gabby walk off into a weird red sunset, Gabby rambling as usual and Xena finding her annoying but endearing. Really, this is where Xena falls in love with her. She might act like Gabrielle is a pain in the butt, but that's what Xena loves the most about her. No one gets under your skin quite like the woman you love most in the world. I know this for a fact because my partner drives me crazy like NOBODY else can. In all kinds of ways ;)

*No males, centaurs, or Amazons were harmed during the production of this motion picture.*

  1. Oh, I just can't not post any longer -- I *LOVE* the recaps! You totally focus on all the important details and poo-poo the rest away. It's awesome. :-) I'm sure there're a whole bunch of other lurkers here appreciating the posts, too, so please do keep on!

Indeed, let's!!! (And next year, getting changed into her Amazon Queen outfit will be even better!)

However, she totally gets into it, even though she REALLY can't dance.

What? You dare call "the Porky Dance" can't dance? ;-p

Seriously, maybe Gabrielle can't really dance here . . . but *Renee* emphatically CAN! [Actually, even G's off-beat out-of-stepness is, I would argue, a sign of How Good a dancer Renee is. It's HARD to dance off-beat---but ROC can pull it off!]

Really, this is where Xena falls in love with her.

You're going to say this every ep, aren'tcha, HR? ;-)

"In love", maybe---but Xena doesn't realize she's in love w/ Gabriell until . . . [preview of coming attractions!]
